STOCKHOLM, July 24 (Xinhua) -- A European health agency said on Friday that 621 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European countries within the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 389 were confirmed in Germany, 54 in Norway, 48 in Switzerland, 25 in the Netherlands, 18 in Portugal, 16 in Austria, 12 in Spain, 11 in Romania, eight in Finland, six each in Denmark, Hungary, Estonia and the Czech Republic, five each in Iceland and Slovakia, three in Malta, two in Poland, and one in Bulgaria, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in its daily situation report.
The total number of confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu virus in the EU (European Union) and EFTA (European Free Trade Association)countries rose to 20,382, with 1,538 cases in Spain and 11,159 in Britain, 628 in France and 2,844 in Germany, the ECDC said.
The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about A/H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from these countries.
