BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Sam Raimi, director of the "SpiderMan" film franchise, is set to turn "World of Warcraft" into a movie, media reported Thursday.

    Blizzard Entertainment Inc. and Legendary Pictures said Sam Raimi has signed on to direct "Warcraft," a live-action film based on the popular online role-playing game which allows players to become such characters as orcs, trolls, humans and dwarves.

    Raimi is best known for directing "The Evil Dead" and "SpiderMan" trilogy.

    He recently wrote and directed "Drag Me To Hell."
