WASHINGTON, July 22 (Xinhua) -- World 100 and 200 meters champion Tyson Gay will run in the London Grand Prix on Saturday although the American is suffering from a sore groin.
Gay's manager Mark Wetmore said on Wednesday that Gay will run in London despite the soreness in his groin which has been a problem this year.
Wetmore said the problem would come after his races and went away after a few days.
Gay is scheduled to defend both his 100 and 200m world titles in the Aug. 15-23 championships against Jamaican Olympic champion and world record holder Usain Bolt in what should be the highlight of the Berlin competition.
Gay is also scheduled to run in Stockholm on July 31.
The soreness is the second setback for Gay this season. A knee injury cost him several weeks of pre-season training.
