TEHRAN, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Monday warned the country's leading politicians
against acting under the pointing hands of the nation's enemies, the
English-language Press TV reported.
"Ruling figures are facing a significant challenge
that leads to their collapse," Khamenei was quoted as saying to the country's
leading political figures.
"Rationalism is the correct way to solve the existing
issues," Khamenei said, adding that the western governments are trying to
instigate post-election riots in Iran through their media outlets.
"The recent events indicated that the nation must be
careful about the enemies' plots against the Islamic establishment," he said.
Earlier, Iran's Association of Combatant Clerics led
by the reformist former President Mohammad Khatami called for a referendum to
solve the current crisis following the disputed presidential election.
After incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was
announced as the winner of the June 12 presidential election, Iran has been the
scene of a series of protests and unrest.
According to Press TV, Iran's police have arrested
457 people in the post-election violence which has left at least 20 dead and
hundreds of others injured.
On June 29, the Guardian Council confirmed the vote
result, announcing the election file was closed.

(Xinhua) -- Iran's Association of Combatant Clerics called for a referendum in
Iran to solve the current crisis concerning the disputed presidential election,
local ILNA news agency reported Monday on its website.
"According to the Constitution, the only way to solve
current crisis is to organize a referendum," the reformist clerics group said in

(Xinhua) -- Numerous supporters of Iran's defeated presidential candidate
Mir-Hossein Mousavi rallied in central Tehran on Friday after powerful cleric
Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani ended a sermon, witnesses said.
Many Mousavi supporters were marching in the nearby
streets of Iran's Tehran University where a Friday prayers sermon led by former
President Rafsanjani had been held, a witness said on condition of anonymity. Full story

July 17 (Xinhua) -- Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Friday
called for solution to current situation in Iran in the framework of laws.
"A large group of Iranians have doubts about last month's
disputed presidential election," Rafsanjani said during his Friday prayer
address broadcast live on state radio, "something should be done about the

8 (Xinhua) -- Iran's police chief said Wednesday 100 of those detained during
the post-election unrest in June will be released within the next two days,
local Press TV reported.
"Two-thirds of the detainees have already been released
and another 100 will be released in the next two days," Brigadier General Esmail

release of those arrested in the unrest following the country's disputed
presidential election, the English-language satellite channel Press TV reported
Tuesday.
Two defeated reformist presidential candidates --
Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi -- met with reformist -- former President
Mohammad Khatami -- late Monday to discuss the latest post-election
