BOGOTA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The Colombian government reported on Monday the
seventh death of A/H1N1 influenza in the country.
A woman in the municipality of Viterbo, in the mid-western Caldas
department, died of A/H1N1 flu last Tuesday in a local hospital, the Ministry of
Social Security and Health said.
"She was received by the hospital on July 5 when developing symptoms of
cough, fever and respiratory difficulty," the ministry said.
Colobia confirmed its fifth and sixth death of A/H1N1 flu last week. The
two cases, involving a baby and a young man, were both in the capital Bogota.
A total of 166 cases of A/H1N1 flu infections have been confirmed so far in
Colombia. Of the seven death cases, five were in Bogota.
The Colombian government has taken strict measures at hospitals and health
centers to avoid a large-scale explosion of the disease.
