A/H1N1 flu death toll in Uruguay rises to 9

    MONTEVIDEO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan Public Health Minister Maria Julia Munoz reported on Friday the death of two patients due to A/H1N1 flu, raising the death toll to nine in the country.

    The patients were an 11-month-old male who had brain paralysis and 34-year-old male who had other diseases, Munoz said in a press conference.

    Munoz called the people to remain calm and said there is not "scientific evidence to close the public places."

    Munoz said that there is not need to apply special measure like to extend the winter (austral) vacations for students, who will return to school on Monday.

    All the fatal cases were related to other organic problems and diseases.

    The Ministry reported 185 confirmed cases by lab and 385 for epidemic ties.
