SAN JOSE, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A group of Costa Rican university students protested on Thursday near the residence of President Oscar Arias, against Honduras' post-coup leader Roberto Micheletti, who was here to meet with Arias.

The students' groups from the University of Costa Rica (FECUR) and the Socialist youth, as well as other local citizens, protested in the vicinity of Arias' residence, holding flags and posters to oppose the recent coup in Honduras that toppled the government of President Manuel Zelaya.

The president of the FECUR, Cristina Barbosa, said that the protest was intended to repudiate the coup in Honduras, which must not become a common practice in the rest of Latin America.

"Here there is not anything to negotiate, here the only thing that has a place is to restore President Zelaya," Barbosa said, referring to President Arias' mediation efforts aimed at finding a solution to the post-coup political crisis in Honduras. ¡¡
