Doctors of Han Nationality and Uyghur ethnic minority
in the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have treated more
than 300 people injured in the July 5 riot.
Soundbite: Komuqjan, doctor with the People's
Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region "Our department received 12
patients. They mainly suffered from external injuries in the head, face, arms
and legs. Some of them were in serious condition when they were rushed here. One
of the patients was bleeding in the head, so we cleaned and sutured the wounds
immediately."
Medical staff told Xinhua that they are doing their
utmost to treat all the patients, and that all the injured are their compatriots
and must be rescued and cured.
Soundbite: Komuqjan, doctor with the People's
Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region "I felt heart-struck at seeing the
innocent people injured by the rioters. As a doctor and an ordinary Uyghur
citizen, I feel especially sad. The rioters are so vicious. The Party and the
government must take measures to end such acts."
Patients of different ethnic groups were seen stay
friendly to each other in the wards.
Soundbite: Dolkun, head of the Abdominal Surgical
Department of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region "At
first we were worried that emotional barriers or frictions might exist between
the patients. However, facts have proved we were completely wrong. The patients
are all very friendly to each other. We all know it is not an ethnic issue, not
a religion issue, but an issue concerning the unity and stability of our
country. It is a conspiracy of anti-China forces at home and abroad. I think we
ordinary people have a clear understanding of the issue." Xinhua News Agency
