BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) condemned the deadly riot in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said vice president AlikAlik here Thursday in Beijing.

Alik began his talks with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping by "expressing condolences for the loss of innocent lives" in the Sunday riot, which left at least 156 people dead and more than 1,000 injured.

"The FSM government condemns terrorist acts that target innocent people," Alik said, noting that his country supported China "in taking necessary measures to protect lives of the innocent and in maintaining peace and stability".

Alik was here on an official visit from July 8 to 13 as guest of Xi.
