Blast kills one in NW Pakistan

    ISLAMABAD, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A blast occurred near a police colony in northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring several others, local TV channel reported.

    Eyewitness said that a suicide bomber blown himself up on Nasir Bagh road near a police colony in Peshawar, the capital city of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), according to the private channel TV GEO News.

    GEO News quoted police source as saying that NWFP Assembly Speaker Karamatullah Chagharmatti's vehicle passed through that road just before the blast. Police have cordoned off the blast area.

    No group has claimed responsibility of the blast.
