BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Local governments should focus on development and stability in China's Tibet Autonomous Region, in a bid to increase the incomes of farmers and herdsmen and ensure their livelihoods, said Vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Wednesday.

Hui made the remarks during an inspection tour of the region, saying the governments should take the advantage of local conditions to develop modern farming and livestock husbandry to promote "fast and sound economic development".

Hui visited farms, businesses, research institutions and welfare homes, pointing out Tibet should make great efforts to improve housing construction, speed up building of water resources facilities, road, electricity and communications facilities.
