More than 200 new A/H1N1 flu cases confirmed in Europe

    STOCKHOLM, July 7 (Xinhua) -- A European health agency said Tuesday that 228 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European countries within the last 24 hours.

    Of the new cases, 72 were confirmed in Spain, 41 in France, 21 in Germany, 18 in Cyprus, 13 in Sweden, 12 in Portugal, 11 in Greece, seven in Ireland, six in Norway, five in Finland and Belgium respectively, three in Slovenia, Slovakia and Denmark respectively, two in the Czech Republic and Poland respectively, one in Bulgaria, Hungary, Luxemburg and Netherlands respectively, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in its daily situation report.

    The total number of confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu virus in the EU and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries rose to 10,582, with 848 cases in Spain and 7,447 in Britain, 371 in France and 548 in Germany, the ECDC said.

    The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about the H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from these countries. ¡¡
