NICOSIA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Eight new cases of the A/H1N1 flu have been detected in Cyprus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed case to 117, the island state's Health Ministry said on Monday.
The ministry, which can only monitor the situation in the Greek Cypriot south, said 254 persons with flu symptoms have been subjected to laboratory tests and 117 of them have been diagnosed with the virus.
Meanwhile, health authorities in the Turkish Cypriot north have so far confirmed 10 cases of the epidemic, increasing the overall number of the flu cases on the eastern Mediterranean island to 127. ¡¡
