CAIRO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Egypt denied on Monday media reports about the deploying of U.S. troops on Egypt's borders with Israel and Gaza Strip, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki said in a statement.

    "The fact is that the United States is doing a periodic change to part of its troops taking part in the multinational force in Sinai," said Zaki, stressing that "this process is done regularly since deploying the multinational force."

    "The media reports are baseless," calling for accuracy when reporting such things, he added.

    A multinational force is deployed on the borders between Egypt and Israel since the signing of a peace treaty between Cairo and Tel Aviv in 1979. The United States is among ten countries taking part in this force.
