WASHINGTON, July 5 (Xinhua) -- England's Justin Wilson won the IndyCar Grand Prix of Watkins Glen on Sunday.

Wilson, who claimed his first IndyCar victory in Detroit last year, moved past Australian pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe on the third lap and kept the edge the rest of the way to win by 4.99 seconds.

He brought car owner Dale Coyne his first victory in the series after 557 prior races in a quarter century ended in frustration.

Briscoe was second with defending series champion Scott Dixon of New Zealand third, followed in order by Brazil's Helio Castroneves, American Marco Andretti and English rookie Mike Conway.

Dixon kept the season points lead with 313 points, 19 ahead of Briscoe and Scotland's Dario Franchitti with Indianapolis 500 winner Castroneves fourth on 257 and American Danica Patrick, who finished 11th, fifth on 238.
