BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong on Saturday encouraged the country's college students to steel their will and give full play to their talents during summer social practice.

    Social practice is an important channel to have college students trained and improved, and is helpful for their growth, Liu said at the inauguration ceremony of the annual summer social practice for college students.

    In recent years, more Chinese college students have showed their willingness in participating social practice and volunteering services by going to grassroots organizations and spending time with the people, she said.

    Their actions have displayed their firm pursuit in their ideals and their sense of responsibility, she said.

    College students' value should be realized by serving society and their ability should be improved in practice and through the study from the people, she noted.
