BERLIN, July 3 (Xinhua) -- German prosecutors said suspected Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk is fit enough to face trial and he would be formally charged later this month.
Medical experts have determined that Demjanjuk can stand trial under the
condition that his appearance in court does not exceed two 90-minute sessions
each day, prosecutors in the southern German city of Munich said in a statement.
Demjanjuk, 89, is accused of 29,000 counts of accessory to murder as a
guard at the Sobibor death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II.
He was transferred to Germany on May 12 after losing a judicial battle to remain in the United States. His family has said that he is too weak to face trial because of spinal problems, kidney failure and anaemia.
