STOCKHOLM, July 2 (Xinhua) -- A European health
agency said on Thursday that 563 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European
countries within the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 391 were confirmed in Britain, 39
in Spain, 23 in France, 41 in Germany, 11 in Greece, eight in Ireland, seven
each in Switzerland and Italy, five each in the Czech Republic and Portugal,
four each in Slovakia, the Netherlands, Finland and Poland, two each in Malta,
Lithuania, Denmark and Belgium, and one each in Sweden and Norway, the European
Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in its daily situation
report.
The total number of confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu
virus in the EU (European Union) and EFTA (European Free Trade
Association)countries rose to 9,453, with 756 cases in Spain and 6,929 in
Britain, 311 in France and 470 in Germany, the ECDC said.
The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about
A/H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from
these countries.
