TEHRAN, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign
Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Wednesday that President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad canceled a planned trip to AU summit because he was "too busy," the
official IRNA news agency reported.
"The president called off the trip because he was too
busy and the visit was not among his top priorities," Qashqavi said.
"It had been decided that the president would travel
to Libya to attend the African Union Summit on Wednesday, but the plan was
canceled," the semi-official Fars news agency reported in an earlier report.
IRNA reported on Tuesday that Ahmadinejad would
attend the African Union summit.
On Monday, an announcement of the Guardian Council,
Iran's top legislative body, confirmed Ahmadinejad's re-election in the disputed
June 12 presidential election.
