OTTAWA, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The total of deaths from
A/H1N1 flu in Canada has risen to 30, health officials said Tuesday.
The province of Ontario has just reported two new
deaths, bringing the provincial total to 11.
An 81-year-old Toronto woman and a 41-year-old
Hamilton woman who had chronic health problems both tested positive for the
virus.
The province is the worst hit by the flu, recording a
total of confirmed cases of 3,161 by last week.
Neighboring Quebec province has also reported 11
deaths, with its total of confirmed cases standing at 1,834.
The national total of confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu
in Canada now stand at 7,983, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada
(PHAC).
The PHAC website says between 4,000 and 8,000
Canadians die of seasonal influenza and its complications annually, depending on
the severity of the season.
