KHOST, Afghanistan, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Air raids against Taliban's hideout in the restive Paktia province of eastern Afghanistan claimed the lives of over three dozens of insurgents on wee hours of Tuesday, an official said.

"Gunships of U.S.-led forces in wee hours of Tuesday targeted insurgents hideouts in Waza Zadran district, leaving 32 militants dead," Abdul Wali Zadran told Xinhua.

Zardan said that hundreds of heavy and light weapons were also destroyed in the bombing. "Many foreign rebels were found dead in the battle field."

He also said these militants involved in activities against the government and U.S.-led forces in Paktia and neighboring areas.

However, the press office of the alliance for southeastern region in Khost city confirmed that their raids have eliminated at least 12 militants in Paktia.

Taliban militants have yet to make any comment.
