MADRID, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A 20-year-old woman who contracted A/H1N1 flu during her pregnancy on Tuesday became the first person in Spain to die from the virus, officials said.
Doctors rescued the unborn baby by performing a Caesarian section before the woman died in a Madrid hospital. The Health Ministry said the baby was healthy and receiving care in the hospital.
Spain so far has reported 717 cases of the A/H1N1 flu. Most patients, the government said, have responded well to treatment.
