JOHANESBURG, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Two more cases of the A/H1N1 flu have been confirmed in South Africa, the country's health department has said.

Spokesman Fidel Hadebe said the third and fourth cases of the H1N1 virus were confirmed on Friday afternoon from patients who travelled from London and the United States.

The U.S. traveller, who landed in the country on June 20, was the first reported case outside Gauteng.

Hadebe said the woman was based in the Western Cape. He could however not state the woman's exact location.

The other patient travelled from London on June 24 with flue-like symptoms.

"The patients are well and being managed at home in accordance with the World Health Organisation and the Department of Health guidelines."

"All the associated contacts will be followed up and given the necessary advice and treatment," Hadebe said.

Confirmation of the two cases came just two days after the department announced that the virus had been detected on a 29-year-old rugby player who lives in France.

The player arrived in the country on Monday and took ill a couple of days ago.

"He was admitted to a hospital (in Pretoria, Gauteng) where specimens were taken from him for testing. The results came back Thursday and they were positive," Hadebe said.

South Africa's first swine flu case was a 12-year-old boy, who arrived at OR Tambo International Airport from the United States on June 14.

The boy was also monitored from home. The two new cases were not linked to the boy nor the Rugby player.

"The fact that we have a fast turn around time to trace the H1N1 influenza is indicative that we are prepared to deal with it and there is no need for people to worry," Hadebe said.
