NEW DELHI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Thursday visited Bhutan, where he flagged off a new flight connecting Bhutan and India, reported the Indo-Asian News Service on Friday.

During the one-day visit, Krishna held wide-ranging talks with Bhutanese King Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and other leaders on the "special relationship" between India and Bhutan, as well as regional issues including the security situation in Nepal, said the report.

Krishna also met Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley and Foreign Minister Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering, according to the report.

Shortly after his arrival, Krishna flagged off the first flight of Paro-Bagdogra (Assam) flight of Bhutan's Druk Air, said the report.

The new flight is expected to spur greater connectivity and promote trade and tourism between the two neighbors, according to the report.

Krishna also promised that India will help Bhutan generate 10,000 megawatt of hydropower for export to India by 2020, said the report.
