MADRID, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish parliament on Wednesday agreed to dispatch 532 troops to Afghanistan, as requested by Defense Minister Carmen Chacon.

The mission for Afghanistan is "the toughest, complex and risky one for the Armed Forces and it is developing into a scene of great risk," Chacon said during the session.

Most of the political groups expressed their unconditional support to the government's bid to send soldiers to Afghanistan, except the United Left (UI) deputy Gaspar Llamazares, who opposed the dispatch plan and voted against the proposal.

The cost for the mission will be 44 million euros (about 60 million U.S. dollars).

The deployment will begin in early July in the areas of Heart and Qala e Naw. The Spanish soldiers will act as the "third line" in support of the Afghan police and army.
