Jordan's A/H1N1 cases increase to 9

    AMMAN, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The number of influenza A/H1N1 cases in Jordan increased to nine after four more cases were confirmed, the official Petra news agency reported on Wednesday.

    In a second update in the day, Minister of Health Nayef Al Fayez announced another four cases of A/H1N1 flu were detected in the kingdom.

    According to the minister, a Palestinian girl and three Jordanian youth tested positive for the epidemic flu, and they arrived from the United States after taking part in a Scout camp in Washington.

    The patients, ranging between 16 to 17 years old, are now receiving medication at Prince Hamza Hospital in Amman, he added.

    Earlier in the day, the minister said two Palestinians and a Jordanian who came from the United States were confirmed infected with the flu virus.

    So far, the A/H1N1 cases have been found in the Middle East countries including Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen and Morocco.

    Jordan reported its first flu case on Monday.
