U.S. report on China's labor law "unacceptable," Foreign Ministry says

    BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- A Foreign Ministry spokesman Tuesday criticized a report from the United States about China's labor law enforcement, saying the country "has worked effectively" to protect the legitimate interests and rights of Chinese workers.

    "The Chinese government always attaches great importance to the protection of the legitimate interests and rights of Chinese workers," spokesman Qin Gang told a routine press conference, calling the report "groundless" and "unacceptable." 

China calls for "stability, soidarity" in post-election Iran

    BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang voiced respect Tuesday for "the choice of the Iranian people" and called for stability in post-election Iran.

    Qin made the remarks at a regular press conference, responding to a question on the situation in Iran, where President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's victory over opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi in last week's election is being contested. 

China: diplomatic means "sole right way" to solve Korean nuclear issue

    BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- China reiterated Tuesday that negotiations and diplomatic means were the "sole right way" to solve the Korean peninsula nuclear issue.

    At a routine news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gangagain called on the relevant parties to remain calm and restrained, resolve the issue through dialogue and consultation and avoid actions that might worsen the tense situation.

Turkish president to visit China 

    BEIJING, June 16(Xinhua)-- Turkish President Abdullah Gul will pay a state visit to China from June 24 to 29 at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

    Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang made the announcement at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

Chinese special envoy to visit Middle East, Russia

    BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Wu Sike, Chinese special envoy to the Middle East issue, will pay visits to Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Russia from June 20 to July 4, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

    The spokesman said Wu would exchange views with the relevant sides on current situation in Middle East.
