TEHRAN, June 15 (Xinhua) - Iran's Interior Ministry said on Monday that the defeated presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi will be responsible for the illegal rally, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"The consequences of such behavior (holding a rally) will be with Mousavi," the official IRNA news agency quoted the ministry's director general of political affairs, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, as saying.

On Sunday, the website of Mousavi, Ghalam News, announced that there would be a rally on Monday in one of Tehran's main squares with the participation of Mousavi himself to talk to his supporters. However, another statement called for its postponement.

"Since no permission has been issued for the rally, (we) announce the postponement of the rally. (And) since there is no means available for informing the people, Mir-Hossein Mousavi and (Mehdi) Karroubi (another defeated candidate) will attend the site of rally and will invite people to calmness," another announcement on Mousavi's website said on Monday.

The reason for such a participation is the blockage of all the canals for informing people to avoid any violation," it added.

On Saturday afternoon, Iran's Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli announced that the incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won 62.63 percent of the total votes during Friday's vote, while former Prime Minister Mir-Hossein Mousavi got 33.75 percent in Iran's presidential competition.

After the official declaration, Mousavi, in a statement, protested "strongly" the "obvious" violations in Iran's presidential election.
