LUANDA, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Russia is to finance Angola to build two hydropower stations over the Kwanza River, a corridor of Malanje-Kwanza Norte provinces in northern Angola, Angola's official news agency ANGOP reported on Saturday.

Russian Ambassador to Angola Serguey Nenachev was quoted as saying that the financial aid to Angola shows goodwill economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

According to the Russian senior diplomat, the building of the two hydropower stations is part of the economic cooperation package that the both countries are committed to establishing.

The two hydropower stations will be built in Kapanda, Malanje province and Cambambe, Kwanza Norte province, the Russian diplomat said, adding that they will have a combined power generating capacity of 2,000 megawatts, or 1,000 megawatts each.
