SEOUL, June 10 (Xinhua) -- A South Korean hospital ruled by the Supreme Court to remove life-support device from a comatose patient said Wednesday that it has decided to follow the court order.

Seoul's Yonsei Severance Hospital said that the hospital has decided to accept the court's order, respecting the family's request.

Family members of the 77-year-old comatose patient had earlier filed a suit seeking for a court order to remove her life support, which the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the family late May.

With the Supreme Court's unprecedented ruling, the patient, showing virtually no chance to recover, was allowed a right to "die with dignity," which was often referred as "passive euthanasia."

The patient's family, having a very hard time taking care of the patient, wishes to withdraw the life support device as soon as possible, according to the family lawyer.
