ALMATY, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Emergency department leaders from the Shanghai
Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states on Friday held their fourth meeting
in the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan to discuss cooperation in disaster rescues.
At the meeting, China shared its disaster relief experience during the
strong earthquake that rattled its Sichuan province in May last year.
Participants agreed on the Action Plan for 2009-2010 concerning SCO mutual
assistance and cooperation in disaster relief.
Discussions were held on a number of issues including the establishment of
a SCO emergency relief center.
Apart from the six SCO members -- China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia,
Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, representatives from India and Mongolia also
attended the meeting as observers.
Participants also watched the "Oil-2009" leak rescue exercise carried out
by the Kazakh emergency department.
