BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Noah Fulmor and Erin
Finnegan from New York will become the first couple to get married floating in
zero gravity when they take off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on June
20.
A New York couple will exchange vows on an aircraft
at the centre at Cape Canaveral, Florida, that can simulate weightlessness
similar to a spaceship in orbit.
Noah, 31, and Erin, 30, will exchange rings made from
precious metal fragments of a meteorite that crashed to Earth in Namibia 30,000
years ago.
The couple will be joined by family and friends
aboard a modified jet which will fly in several steep dives to give them eight
minutes of weightlessness. Each guest's ticket costs ¡ê3,500.
British space tourist and adventurer Richard
Garriott, the son of an astronaut, will officiate at the ceremony during the
90-minute flight, which includes 15 rollercoaster-type dives, known as parabolic
arcs, which last up to 30 seconds.
Erin will wear a designer wedding dress with trousers
to protect her modesty during weightlessness.
¡°Noah wanted to get married in space but we probably
won't be able to afford it for another 25 to 50 years - so I suggested this as a
compromise,¡± she said.
