ANKARA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Health Ministry said on Tuesday that influenza A/H1N1 virus was detected in another Turkish citizen who returned from California of the United States.
The Health Ministry said the citizen arrived in Turkey on May 30 and applied to hospital after suffering from high fever and muscle and joint pain, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Doctors were quoted by the report as saying that tests came out positive and that the patient was hospitalized in isolation.
Earlier on Friday, two Turks were confirmed infected with the fatal flu virus. They were isolated and in good condition, the country's Health Ministry said in a statement.
The statement said they were found to have contracted influenzaA/H1N1 after they flew in from the United States.
One of them came from New York to the Turkish Aegean city of Izmir via Istanbul, while the other came from Houston to Istanbul via Amsterdam.
Two weeks ago, the country discovered the first two influenza A/H1N1 cases among foreign passengers, who travelled from the United States to Amsterdam, then transferred to a flight to Istanbul and were planning to proceed to Iraq.
The passengers, who are U.S. citizens, were immediately isolated before having contact with any other individuals at the airport, Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said.
