BAGHDAD, June 2 (Xinhua) -- An American soldier was killed by a roadside bomb explosion near his patrol in Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.
A military statement said the Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldier died of wounds sustained in the blast of an improvised explosive device (IED) in eastern part of the capital.
The statement gave no further details, but said the incident is under investigation.
About 4,308 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the outbreak of Iraq war in March 2003, according to media count based on figures from the Pentagon.
