ANKARA, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Two Turkish people, who were infected with influenza A/H1N1, were isolated and in good condition, the country's Health Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The statement said they were found to have contracted influenzaA/H1N1 when flew in from the United Stated on Friday.
One of them came from New York to the Turkish Aegean city of Izmir via Istanbul, while the other came from Houston to Istanbul via Amsterdam.
Some of the passengers aboard their planes were under monitoring, and "efforts were made to reach other passengers," the statement said.
The two suffered from high fever, muscle and joint pain and went to hospitals, where medical tests proved that both were infected with the virus.
Two weeks ago, the country discovered the first two influenza A/H1N1 cases among foreign passengers, who travelled from the United States to Amsterdam, then transferred to a flight to Istanbul and were planning to proceed to Iraq.
Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said at a press conference in Istanbul that the passengers were U.S. citizens and were immediately isolated before having contact with any other individuals at the airport.
