BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhuanet)-- Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels criticized a Democratic climate-change proposal endorsed by U.S. President Barack Obama, saying it will do little to reduce global warming.

The House's climate bill to cap greenhouse gas emissions would fail to measurably reduce global warming and would burden Americans with high energy costs, Daniels told Republican Party's weekly radio and Internet address Saturday.

He called the bill "a classic example of unwise government," and said the legislation would position Americans for high energy costs.

"The bill that the House is proposing will require the first nationwide reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. These emissions are blamed for global warming,'' said the Governor.

"The cost for all American taxpayers will be certain, huge, and immediate. Any benefits are extremely uncertain, minuscule, and decades distant," he contended.
