GM bankruptcy sends dollar into upper 94 yen range in Tokyo

    TOKYO, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The news of the planned bankruptcy of U.S. auto giant General Motors Corp. sent the U.S. dollar into the upper 94 yen range Monday morning in Tokyo.

    At noon, the dollar was quoted at 94.81-86 yen, down from 95.28-38 yen in New York and 96.44-46 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Friday.

    The euro traded at 1.4150-4155 dollars and 134.20-25 yen against 1.4155-4165 dollars and 134.87-97 yen in New York and 1.4000-4001 dollars and 135.02-06 yen in Tokyo late Friday.
