RIO DE JANEIRO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Another unhappy Brazilian playing abroad
confessed on Saturday his desire to return to play in Brazil.
Fullback Alex Silva is in Brazil recovering from an injury he received
while playing with his current German team, Hamburg. After a brief conversation
with a member of the club's administration, the player expressed his wish to
return to Brazil.
"I just found out that Fluminense has had their eyes on me and wants to
hire me. Thiago Neves called me personally and asked if I want to play for
Fluminense. I do not discard the possibility, but I am going to allow my agent
to handle it," said Silva.
An attractive reason for Silva to join Fluminense would be to play with his
former teammate and friend Thiago Neves. The two played together while Neves was
at Hamburg. Silva, who formerly played for Sao Paulo, admits that if he were to
return to Brazilian soccer, Fluminense would be good option.
The timing could not be better for Fluminense. Ever since their fullback,
Thiago Silva left to play for the Italian club, Milan, the team has not been
able to find a permanent replacement. Alex Silva's arrival would also strengthen
Fluminense's defense, which allowed five goals in last week's loss to Santos.
