    CAIRO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that his administration will not resume peace talks with Israel before the latter stops settlements on occupied lands.

    "Palestinians will not resume peace talks with Israel unless it stops settlements" said Abbas in a press conference hold after meeting President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday.

    "The U.S. view is satisfying, as it based on the requirements that Israel should stop all forms of settlements including the normal expansion, and recognize the two-state solution," said Abbas.

    Abbas met Mubarak on Saturday to inform him of the results of his visit to the United States.

    Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has presented a document on settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the U.S. administration when he met President Barack Obama in Washington Thursday.

    Abbas' proposal was based on the U.S.-backed Road Map peace plan, previous agreements reached between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the Arab peace initiative.

Source: Abbas submits proposal on Mideast peace to Obama

      RAMALLAH, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has presented a document on settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the U.S. administration when he met President Barack Obama in Washington, an official Palestinian source said Saturday.

Fatah rejects Hamas proposal on limited sharing of Gaza forces


   GAZA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party on Saturday rejected a Hamas proposal on sharing power with Fatah only at the border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

    In a response to an Egyptian mediation effort, Hamas, which overran pro-Abbas forces and seized control of Gaza in June 2007, has said the Islamic movement and Fatah can only form a joint force at Rafah border crossing. Full story

Palestinian inter-reconciliation agreement is to be signed on July 7

    GAZA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- A senior independent Palestinian official said on Saturday that an inter-Palestinian reconciliation agreement is excepted to be signed by senior Palestinian leaders in Cairo on July 7.

    Yasser al-Wadeya, head of the delegation of the independent Palestinian figures, told reporters that members of the five different reconciliation committees are scheduled to start their talks in Cairo by early June.Full story
