JERUSALEM, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was questioned again Wednesday by the police over the suspected corruption, local daily Ha'aretz reported.

This was the fifth interrogation for the top Israeli diplomat since he took office in late March, said the report, adding that the questioning, which lasted about five and a half hours, was facilitated by the National Fraud Unit of the Israel Police.

Following Lieberman's previous investigation, police said that material gathered in the probe thus far provides evidential basis for charges of money laundering, fraud and breach of trust against the foreign minister.

Meanwhile, local daily The Jerusalem Post cited police sources as reporting Wednesday that "significant progress" has been made in the case against Lieberman.

According to the sources, multiple testimonies have been made against the foreign minister, and police would recommend that he is indicted.

Lieberman, who was interrogated on April 30 for the fourth time, was first questioned a day after he assumed his new post. At the time, he asked the police to accelerate the probe against him in order to complete it as soon as possible.
