TEHRAN, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Thursday that Iran is monitoring U.S. behavior for its promised change of policy, the semi-official Farsnews agency reported.

    "Do not think that with verbal tactics you (U.S. officials) will inflict Islamic Republic with negligence. We are monitoring your behavior and have several scenarios on the table for your behavior," he said.

    In a similar report, the local IRNA news agency quoted him as saying that "Iran is ... closely watching the activities of the United States of America in order to see if there is a real change as promised by the country's president."

    "The U.S. should take the first move on the Palestinian issue and show to what extent it seeks real change in its policy," Larijani added.

    Larijani made the remarks in a ceremony with the participation of some armed forces in Tehran on Thursday.

    The Majlis Speaker has already called on the United States to revise its policy significantly in favor of Palestinians as a sign of U.S. President Barack Obama's "change" slogan.

    On Tuesday, Larijani called on the United States to move out of the region, saying the continuation of military presence of the United States in the region brings no result other than the expansion of terrorism, violence and insecurity.

    Washington and its allies, including Israel, regard Iran's demand of U.S. withdrawal as Tehran's initiation to boost influence in the region.

    Washington and its allies have accused Tehran of being involved in developing nuclear weapons secretly. Iran, however, denied the charges and insisted that its nuclear program is for electricity generation only.
