Nepali cinema halls asked to show only domestic movies

    KATHMANDU, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Nepali cinema halls in the capital Kathmandu has been asked to show domestic movies only.

    "A written menace letter send by Revolutionary Left Wing (RLW) has asked cinema halls to show Nepali movies only," Pradip Uday, spokesperson of Association of Nepalese Cinema told Xinhua on Monday.

    There are more than 25 cinema halls functioning in Kathmandu.

    According to Uday, Nepali cinema are "raw material" for cinema businessmen since viewers prefer to watch Indian movies much.

    "We are also committed to show our Nepali movies in cinema halls but we have to follow viewers choice as well," said Uday.

    According to Uday, if the decision comes into action without any alternative to investors, the business will be shutdown.

    There are more than six cinema halls that preferably show Indian movies. These cinema halls are founded on billions of investment and are the job providers of large population.

    Talking to Xinhua, Nakim Uddin, head of the Jay Nepal Cinema Hall, the famous one in the town said, "We will be running our business if abiding by laws set by government. We are going through hurdles created by political parties and organization."
