MOSCOW, May 15 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu
Bangguo concluded his three-day official goodwill visit to Russia on Friday
during which the two countries vowed to enhance parliamentary exchanges.
During his stay here, Wu, chairman of the Standing
Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met with Russian
President Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov and State
Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov.
The top Chinese legislator also attended meetings of
the cooperation committees between China's NPC and the two chambers of Russia's
parliament.
Wu, in his talks with Medvedev, said the China-Russia
strategic partnership of cooperation is gaining momentum for rapid growth as
high-level contacts remain frequent.
Medvedev said Russia values parliamentary exchanges
and cooperation between the two countries, adding that Wu's visit reflects the
momentum for fast growth in bilateral links.
During his meetings with parliamentary leaders, Wu
hailed the relations between the two parliaments and called for closer
cooperation in the face of the global financial crisis.
Mironov said the Federation Council, the upper house
of parliament, fully supports the Russian government's efforts to develop
friendly cooperation with China and stands ready to cooperate with the NPC.
Gryzlov of the State Duma, the lower chamber of
parliament, said parliamentary cooperation between Russia and China has played a
significant and unique role in the fast development of bilateral ties.
Wu arrived in Moscow on Wednesday on the first leg of
his three-nation tour, which will also take him to Austria and Italy.
