JAKARTA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro on Thursday said that Indonesia would start export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Tangguh block in Papua to Fujian, China by the end next month.
"We expect one cargo of LNG from Tangguh can be shipped by June," Purnomo told reporters.
Indonesia is seeking for higher gas prices from its Tangguh field to Fujian China and South Korea.
The country has deal to deliver 2.6 million tons of LNG annually to China's Fujian province with a price at 3.35 U.S. dollar per million British thermal units (mmbtu) for 25 years starting this year.
The country also has an agreement to sell 600,000-800,000 tons a year to South Korea's K- Power with price of 3.50 per mmbtu for 20 years, and 550,000 tons a year to Posco (005490.SE) with price at 3.36 per mmbtu for an equal number of years.
Tangguh field is being constructed by a consortium led by Europe's largest oil and gas company BP Plc.. It is expected to produce 7 million tons per annum in the first phase of production scheduled in 2009.
Indonesia, the world's second-biggest liquefied natural gas exporter after Qatar, has more far more gas than oil. ¡¡
