HANOI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh met with visiting Japanese Vice Defense Minister NobuoKishi on bilateral military ties here on Wednesday, Vietnam News Agency reported.

    Thanh hailed Kishi's visit, saying that it would enhance mutual understanding between the two armies and two peoples.

    Kishi informed Thanh of his talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Chi Vinh, on regional security, orientations for bilateral defense cooperation, exchange of military delegations and experience in search and rescue activities.
