TOKYO, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Japan will send masks, goggles and other medical supplies worth 100 million yen (1 million U.S. dollars) to Mexico to help combat the new strain of influenza A virus, government spokesman said.

    The supplies will include 190,000 masks, 3,000 goggles, 3,000 pairs of disposable gloves and 1,370 bottles of antiseptic solution, Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura said Friday.

    At the request from Mexico, Japan is also arranging to provide the country with some 20 cameras for thermographic inspections at airports and other places in order to strengthen quarantine, Kawamura told a press conference.

    "We will consider providing more support if it is necessary," he said.

    The supplies will be shipped from Saturday.
