JAKARTA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia was appointed as the center of river treatment knowledge exchange in Asia Pacific because the country had many rivers and was experienced in the field, the national news agency Antara quoted an official as saying on Tuesday.
"Our friends from Asia Pacific considered that Indonesia has many experiences, therefore they will come to Central Java's Solo to learn about that," said the Public Works' Director General of Water Resource Iwan Nusyirwan in Solo.
The city has infrastructures for the training, namely field laboratory, water resource institution and sufficient human resources.
However, the ministry's Director of Water Resource Supervision Sugiyanto said that Indonesia had 5,700 river basin areas and 62 of the total have been damaged.
"Handling the damage can not be done separately. We must do it integratedly," he said.
