BEIJING, April 27 -- The Chinese central and Gansu provincial governments have earmarked 2 billion yuan, or 293 million U.S. dollars, for road reconstruction in quake-stricken areas.
So far, eight Gansu counties affected by the May 12 Sichuan earthquake have received 800 million yuan to rebuild about a thousand kilometers of roads and bridges.According the Gansu Communication Bureau, some 1 billion yuan has been allocated to 36 other counties moderately affected by the quake, which topped 8.4 on the Richter scale.
The bureau says all the projects should be complete before the end of next year.
