LOS ANGELES, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Extra-marital
affair thriller "Obsessed" was the top draw at the box office in North America
this weekend, taking in about 28.5 million dollars in U.S. and Canadian theaters
over the three-day period, preliminary figures showed Sunday.

The film by Screen Gems, the low-budget division of
Sony Pictures, stars pop sensation Beyonce Knowles as a wife who fights to save
her marriage when a blonde temp worker falls madly for her African-American
husband.
"Obsessed," reportedly made with
a cost about 20 million dollars, was described as an interracial version of the
1980's classic "Fatal Attraction."

Last week's box office leader, Warner Bros.' fantasy
comedy "17Again" finished in second place with 11.7 million dollars over the
weekend. The Zac Efron film has made a total of 40 million dollars over two
weeks since its release.
The weekend's other three new releases were rounding
out the top five movies, with Universal's gritty urban thriller "Fighting" in
third with 11.4 million dollars, followed by DreamWorks drama "The Soloist" with
10 million dollars and Disney documentary "Earth" with 8.6 million dollars over
the period.
"Earth," the first release from
Disneynature, Disney's independent film label focusing on nature documentaries,
had the third best opening ever for a documentary and the best ever for a nature
film. The film has taken in 14.2 million dollars since its opening on
Wednesday.
