    RAMALLAH, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Well-informed Palestinian sources said on Saturday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accepted an Egyptian request to postpone forming a new government headed by Salam Fayyad.

    The sources, who spoke in condition of anonymity, said that Abbas accepted Egypt's request in the last meeting held in Cairo with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, which is to wait until seeing the results of the dialogue.

    Rival Fatah and Islamic Hamas movement will resume their third round of inter-dialogue in Cairo on April 26, to agree on forming a unity government that works on reconstruction of Gaza and preparing for the elections.

    Acting Prime Minister Salam Fayyad had presented a letter of resignation to Abbas last month. Fayyad told Abbas that as soon as an agreement on forming a unity government is reached, he would immediately resign.

    However, differences between Fatah and Hamas on the political platform of the government haven't yet been resolved. Hamas rejects to join a government that recognizes Israel and the signed interim agreement.

    The sources had said that Mubarak proposed to Abbas that if the dialogue on forming a unity government fails, he can form a new interim government headed by an independent Prime Minister.

    Meanwhile, senior Hamas leader Ismail Radwan said in a statement that his movement is ready anytime to succeed the Palestinian dialogue, adding "We will accept any proposal by any side that guarantees our people's rights."

    The left-wing Popular Front to Liberate Palestine (PFLP) had earlier proposed forming a transition unity government without a political platform to jump over the major difference between Fatahand Hamas.

    "We have no objection to PFLP proposal to form a transitional government without a platform and has specific mission which is unifying the official establishment, reconstruct Gaza and prepares for elections," said Radwan.

    The two groups leaders are due to get back to Cairo on April 26,to resume their dialogue and agree on the outstanding issues related to the unity government, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the security apparatuses and the system of elections.
